Present Ideas

Christmas is only 2 months away and this is the time I usually start thinking about what to get or make for my loved ones. This year I'm looking for something different. I feel like everything has been done already.

For co-workers one year I made baggies with cocoa mix, marshmallows, a hershey kiss, and a mini candy cane. But that was for the everyday person and not something I would make or give to my close friends.
Here are some ideas I'd like to play with over the next couple of weeks to figure out if I can upgrade or make it my own.

Chalkboard spray painted embossed champagne/wine bottles

Time to go shopping for some supplies soon!

Simple Dea-Lite #12

After not being able to fall asleep for hours and browsing the internet I come across this adorable photo.

What's not to love? Frenchies are the cutest!!!

Inspiration

I have some of the most amazing friends who are continually there for me no matter what.
They each inspire me in one way or another and I hope that I am able to do the same for them.

My friends don't tell me what I want to hear, but instead tell me the truth. We may be mean girls sometimes (wedge wednesdays!) but we're all smart and respectful enough to know where to draw the line. Our cheeks hurt from laughing so much, we get emotional at times (hey we're girls you can't blame us), and we know how to have a great time!

So here's to my girls, you each know who you are, and fuck off to the jealous bitches!

Beirut

Tonight I'm going to see Beirut at the Greek Theatre.
I'm beyond excited for this and I'm really hoping it doesn't end up raining like they say it might. There's currently sun out so I'm hoping it continues that way.
I've heard great things about this band when they play live. I can only imagine because when I listen to them there is already a magic to the music that being in the presence of this live show will not disappoint. (pending weather of course)

Enjoy one of my favorite songs from their newest album

Great voices

I'm taking a page (or post rather) from my friend Malinda and answering a completely random question that would hopefully give a little insight to me.
You go to the website Plinky and it tells you a topic you can discuss. So here it goes!
'Name someone who has a great voice'

When I initially read this I thought of two things. First I thought of someone who has an ear appealing voice that I could listen to for hours on end. Then I thought about someone who people feel is worth listening to. Sort of like the voice of the people. But I'll go with the first one and I'll give two answers. I don't think I'm cheating because one is a male and one is a female. The great female voice is Adele. She has this amazing singing voice that is able to capture every emotion she is feeling and have all of them resonate with me. I've also heard her in interviews and love that she has such a 'potty mouth'.

The great male voice will have to be Ryan Gosling. He has a certain accent when he talks that makes my heart melt. He also has a way of grabbing my attention when I hear his voice sing. He has a deep soulful voice I can listen to all day long. No need to elaborate just listen.

Times they are a changin'

I still need a clock in my living room to hang above my TV. I have plenty of choices but can't decide what to get, and of course would like it to be really affordable.

Love this modern version of a cuckoo clock

Obsession

I can't stop listening to this band.
I'm extremely bummed that both their shows in my area are sold out. (How did that happen? I wasn't aware this was the coolest band ever) But listening to them every morning on my way to work is so lovely and a breath of fresh air.

Where are we going?

It seems I haven't posted since the beginning of this year.

Apparently I just don't think anything new or interesting happens in my life. Well I'm going to change that and make things new and exciting. That was part of the purpose of blogging more anyway, so I'll put it to use.
The most exciting news right now is that I got a new bike over the weekend! I love it and have ridden it 4 out of 6 days so far. All I need to do is add a cute basket to the front and I'm set!

I also bought a day planner over the weekend because I feel like I don't follow through with things like I should. This is sort of my way of holding myself accountable. Once I finish something I can cross it off and that makes me feel better. So now if I write down I'm going to ride my bike 5 miles or do 50 sit ups, it will happen!
I also recently got a tumblr account. It's not as interesting either but if you're interested you can follow me unawakedea.tumblr.com

This was also up and down my side walk this morning. Someone is all about the peace, love, money, and music. And love Camila, but since I don't know my neighbors I wouldn't know who that is. Pretty though!

I did go to Barcelona in April and we took a bike ride while we were there, so here's my first bike ride of the year.

So this is the new year, and I don't feel any different

Though it often seems like a good idea, I never make New Year resolutions.
It's not because I think I will fail but I'd rather create longer or shorter term goals than be restricted to a year (or less if I do in fact fail).
I also don't feel that because we add another year to the calendar that it should be my starting point. Birthdays are better for that.

That being said I'm finally starting to make lists of things I need to accomplish. Not quite a bucket list but places I want to visit, things I want to see or do, and people I need to spend more time with.
More than ever this song is extremely relevant for me.
